Update on NSC swimming pool refurbishment
As a result of unforeseen structural works for the new flumes at the NSC swimming pool, the expected reopening of the pool has been delayed and a further announcement will be made in due course.
Graham Cregeen MHK, Minister for the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, said:
‘It’s disappointing that we’ve had to push back the expected reopening by a few weeks, but we’re confident that we will be able to make up much of the time lost to enable the pool to reopen shortly after TT fortnight. This is a complex project involving a significant number of contractors and suppliers, who are working closely with the department to deliver a high-quality, refurbished and enhanced swimming pool complex for the public.’
The NSC swimming pool closed in early August 2018, for a £4.2 million programme of investment in swimming facilities which highlighted the Government’s ongoing commitment to sport and recreation.
The original re-opening date was expected to be in May, shortly before TT fortnight 2019.
